Carolyn Howes

Gallery of Hope - Carolyn HowesI was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1983, the same year my son graduated from college. I would tell someone who has just heard the words "you have cancer" to have COURAGE. Everyone is so different and courage can mean very different things. But you must have courage and faith in your treatment team to do what it takes to win against cancer. I was so lucky to be working with the extraordinary doctors, nurses and staff here at Aultman. I put my faith in them and now I have been cancer-free for 36 years!

I live my life with an attitude of enthusiasm. I learned a long time ago that the word enthusiasm comes from the Greek word “entheos” which means “the God within.” The happiest, most interesting people I have met are those who have found the secret of maintaining their enthusiasm. I have always tried to live a life worthy of my blessings and lots of hope! I hope we can all work together, enthusiastically, to make a difference in our world.
