Maxine Middleton

Maxine Middleton"After 12 years of living with Stage IV active breast cancer...I am still living! I am what they call an “outlier” in the cancer world. Statistics say I should be long gone, but I am still here to share my story and offer hope. I attribute my positive and successful cancer journey to the care and competence of Dr. Trehan and her team. However, the entire Aultman community has played a part in my story.

In my 12 years of being a cancer patient, I have never had a bad or negative interaction with an employee at Aultman Hospital. My amazingly competent oncologists, surgeons, nurses, nurse practitioners, phone nurses, pharmaceutical technicians, nuclear medicine technicians, radiologists, volunteers, patient bed transports, patient advocates, medical records, billing department, valets and security...they have ALL made an impact on me.

The people that I have interacted with over the years have helped make this difficult disease bearable. Their bedside manner, positive attitudes and willingness to listen to me as a patient and improve my patient experience has lessened the sting of being a “professional patient."

I can’t find the words to thank the employees of Aultman for helping me make it through my crazy cancer journey. I would not be here without them. I chose Aultman as my hospital. I chose Dr. Trehan to be my primary oncologist.  I have no regrets in those decisions. I am forever grateful and thankful to be part of such an amazing and caring community.

I choose Aultman Hospital."
